Suffolk Coastal Conservative Association's CWO (Conservative Women's Organisation) Branch recently held a very successful meeting to Celebrate 100 Years of Votes for (some) Women. Over twenty women and men gathered at Milsoms, Kesgrave Hall, Ipswich on 7th September to discuss this momentous milestone and exchange memories they have experienced along with stories of their parents and grand-parents. There were lots of old photographs to pore over as well as a collection of postcards depicting both British and American Suffragists and Suffragettes.
The meeting heard from their MP, Dr Thérèse Coffey, and from Ann Steward, Regional Chairman for the Eastern Region and Secretary for the Eastern Region CWO, about their political lives and what brought them into politics in the first place. Both speakers encouraged everyone to try and get more women involved both in politics and other spheres of public life.
Georgina Allan, Chairman of the SCCA CWO, thanked everyone for their contributions to the lively meeting and debate
