The UK is at a watershed moment, with a unique opportunity to set trade policy down a truly transformative path and create new opportunities for women in business. Since its departure from the EU, the UK has become a champion for free trade, striking lucrative new agreements with countries such as Japan, and currently pursuing further agreements with the US, Canada, Mexico and India.  The impacts of such agreements on women need to be fully understood if the effects of trade on women’s lives are to be adequately addressed by policymakers and if women are to seize the new business opportunities such agreements bring. This event will explore the best way of understanding these impacts and what can be done to ensure the UK Government’s trading arrangements align with its international commitment to gender equality.
