As we head into Local elections in London in May 2022 where all London borough councillor seats are up for elections, come and hear from our newly elected Assembly Member Emma Best. Emma will share insights into her political journey and provide tips on how to stand as a candidate in local elections, issues you might face as a new candidate and much more!

Emma Best was elected as a London-wide Assembly Member in May 2021. Born and raised in Waltham Forest, Emma has lived in north east London all her life. Before the Assembly, Emma worked in children services, helping some of London’s most vulnerable children and young people access services and support.

Emma entered politics after experiencing the struggles in London first-hand; sofa surfing, knife crime, and the rising cost of living. She has served as a councillor in Waltham Forest since 2018, leading the charge against inappropriate overdevelopment and the expansion of the ULEZ.

Her current responsibilities include: Deputy Chairman of the Health Committee, Member of the Environment Committee, Member of the GLA Oversight Committee, Member of the Planning and Regeneration Committee.
