The Role of Association Officers
You want to get more involved in the voluntary party but what is involved in the top three roles in an Association? Come along and find out as we speak to an Association Chairman, a Deputy Chairman Political and a Deputy Chairman Membership (and Fundraising).
HOSTING: Rushi Millns (CWO Deputy National Chairman)
CHAIRING: Alison Rodwell (CWO North West Regional Chairman)
SPEAKERS: Cllr Nic Stansby (Deputy Chair Political of Morely & Outwood) & Cllr Adele Warren (Deputy Chair Membership of Bolton NE).
Alison Rodwell
Alison is the Chairman of CWO North West, working to support more women into public life. Alison was the first in her family to go to university – where she studied Physics – before training as an accountant. She is a wife, mum of two and a businesswoman who has worked in sustainability for over 10 years, enabling high street retailers to deliver on their promises to protect the environment. She has also been an Association Chairman and stood in the General Election in Ellesmere Port & Neston in 2019.
Cllr Nic Stansby
Nic Stansby is a mum of two and has her own accountancy business of 15 years. In 2018, she won a seat in the local district council elections, in what was a mostly Labour area and with no previous political experience, except maybe in the playground. She unexpectedly won with a 161 majority and was shortly after elected as Association Deputy Chair Political of Andrea Jenkyns’ constituency , Morley and Outwood. Twelve months later, she was also elected Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group in Wakefield and is well known for attacking the Labour Council’s fiscal ineptitude, always suggesting new ways to regenerate the high street.
Cllr Adele Warren
Adele has always been passionate about her town and decided that becoming involved in local politics serving her town was one way she could make an impact. Adele was chosen as a candidate for the May 2018 election for a historically strong Labour Ward, Breightmet. She increased the Conservative party vote share by 57%, winning the seat. She became the Executive member for Environmental Service Delivery, having responsibility for waste, parks and green spaces, homelessness, school meals and clean air. Since 2019 Adele is also the Deputy Chairperson for Bolton North East Conservative Association membership and fundraising.
