Louise Brice, CWO Chairman, writes:
A proud CWO tradition is remembering the birthday of lead suffragette, Emmeline Pankhurst. Due to ongoing works around the statues in London, the London reception was held this year in Parliament.
We were honoured to have a range of wonderful speakers, including Mims Davies MP – Shadow Secretary of State for Wales and Minister for Women; Harriet Baldwin MP; Aphra Brandreth MP; National CWO President – Pamela Hall OBE and our honorary guest, Helen Pankhurst CBE, who is the great-grandaughter of Emmeline Pankhurst.
We were delighted to be joined by Chairman of the National Convention, Julian Ellacott, who paid tribute to our former CWO Chairman, Fleur Butler OBE, for completing her term on the National Convention team, and welcomed incoming Vice-President, Ahmereen Reza OBE.
A huge thank you to all who were able to attend and celebrate this proud CWO tradition, including our South West Regional Chairman Tamara Reay, London Chairman Ajantha Tennakoon, national campaign lead Jane MacBean, and our Deputy National Chairman Tracy Stones, who travelled all the way from Yorkshire, and Women2Win Director, Tori Peck. To each and everyone of our members who attended – thank you!
We are holding a wreath laying at the Manchester statue later in July.
